Sitting cat Welcome to my home-cooked journal.
Here you will find my rants about every day life and things that keep me busy.
In the past I have frequently written, but there's no saying if I'll continue on that path. It all depends on how busy I am.
Have fun reading my scribbles.
Walls that suck

The Friday we got the key to our new house (13th of May) we brought in all necessities (and some extra) to live there for a few days. Beds, tables, chairs, tea, coffee etc. On the 14th we had the houseviewing for curious relatives, though four of them had assisted in the first 'decorating' of the house on Friday evening. On Sunday, when we were alone again, we started painting the fake-brick (steenstrips) walls. They suck! Like, literally. Some parts have had 7 layers of paint by now and they're finally starting to look white.

In the living room all the paint work is finished now: ceiling and walls. The dining room has fresh paint on the walls but we have not started on the ceiling yet. The radiator and heating pipes need a paint job too. The kitchen needs little work but the whole main floor of the house needs a new floor. We need to break out the old one, even out the concrete floor and the 21st of June Roobol will have some guys over to measure the place and see if the floor is ready for a new layer of laminate, which will then be place on the 5th of July. Seems like far away now, but we'll probably get there soon enough.

On the first floor the two walls that needed painting are finished. We want to add black (silhouette) wall paintings and then we can start furnishing the rooms. We have already visited hardware stores, second hand shops and we're planning a trip to the Ikea for a new wardrobe closet and stuff. We got a basic idea for the colors we want in the living room and have bought some lamps already. And then we'll need to transfer all our furniture from our old house in Enschede to the new house. This will take several runs, a few of which will require the rent of a trailer.

Somewhere along the way we have to move the cats too. At the moment they are alone in Enschede for about 5 days at a time (of course we have arranged for someone to feed them) and I miss them when we're in Amersfoort. I hope the move won't be too stressful for them. They really dislike the car...

Anyway, the house is coming along fine. Now I have to get back to work to earn the money to pay for said house.

Aside from the mortgage

With all the shit around the mortgage I did not have the energy to write about the new summer coat I made. I still don't have pictures either. I love it though. It's made from the winter coat mock-up I made (with the stupid up women-may-not-move sleeves), tie-dyed in red/orange/yellow and some matching fabrics I found in my stash. The pattern is based on a summer dress but I changed the flare of the 'skirt' to sit higher (actually in my waist instead of on the hips) and added sleeves and collar and stuff. It has two outer pockets that are neatly hidden by the 'patches' of fabric and close with zippers. I also have an inner pocket with zipper for my drivers license. And it has a belt to give it a bit of an hourglass shape.

Then there was the Moots this weekend. The weather was awesome though it was too hot for a lot of people. I'm just so glad that I can take off layers without downgrading the costume much. Still, this is the first and last time I'll use a light blue fabric for a dress... it makes me look fat. (maybe I am, but I do not like to look it :P )

I was plagued by a throat-ache and raspy voice the whole weekend. I'm finally getting better now. Still, that didn't do much to prevent me from having fun. Most fun was from the good weather. The plot was not really my thing (it never is...).

On Friday night we had a deja vu to the last scene of the special where we were fighting against bad odds to get the emotion 'humility'. Again with too much monsters respawning every time and backlight. We barely survived and we had to thank Baerwhyn (Jan) and Jonas (Jochem) (both from Golem) for that.

We got what we wanted but later on lost it again because Ragna and Keitlbjorn were not themselves but some ancient Quern spirits in our friend's bodies with a wrong opinion on what to do with the emotion... In that struggle we lost Reona (Cora), Rydgar's (Rene) mother. I really was not into more emo-play because earlier that evening Cerini had returned as an undead, half serving our elemental princess and the other half serving our enemy Wultgar. Enid was troubled seeing his body being abused like that and still blaming herself for not saving him. Later on she had a talk with Cerini's wife about him and apologized for not saving him.

There was lots of blah for some undead walking the vortex, a war of the gods, weird plant creatures spreading diseases and more epicness. Then there was the business around our faction leader. Rydgar is no longer leader because Oog said he wanted the position and Rydgar handed it over to him, sick as he was off all the shit that came with the faction scepter. Then Oog did something decidedly stupid: he tainted the faction scepter by having some people put 'Death' in it... way to go Oog. Lots of uproar in our camp and finally on Sunday we had a new leader: Nebur. One of the white-purple people of Eli.

In the whole weekend we actually took one step forward and one back again on the Wulthgar thing. We lost Reona but gained Ori. Rydgar is no longer faction leader. So... the question is if we'll go to the Summoning this year. We all feel kind of obligated because of the Wulthgar thing which is essentially our background and our problem. However, lots of other people are working on that problem and neither of us is really outgoing and taking the initiative. Aside from that, lots of the Dela people do not expect to return from their own quest. It's all just blah! However, Ragna and Keitlbjorn said they would be willing to help solve the problem (now that we figured out they're on our side). What to do, what to do?

I was looking forward to this Moots (when not worrying about the mortgage) but I'm not yet looking forward to the Summoning. The upcoming move isn't really helping with that either though...

Finally

Finally the mortgage thing is done. Yesterday we got an 'ok' from the ABN and within the hour everything was sent to us and the notary. We were very relieved that it was finally settled. Now we can look forward to this Friday when we will receive the key to our new house!

To be continued...

"We think it odd that the payment slips and the employer's certificate both have a different contract date. Please fix this."

Fixes it in the fastest way possible: by having the accountant change the date on the payment slips.

"We find it odd that the date on the payment slips can be so easily modified. We want to see the contract, a new employer's certificate and we do not understand how the hour registration works so we want an explanation."

CAN YOU PLEASE GO F*CK YOURSELF WITH SOME BARBED WIRE?!
