Sitting cat Welcome to my home-cooked journal.
Here you will find my rants about every day life and things that keep me busy.
In the past I have frequently written, but there's no saying if I'll continue on that path. It all depends on how busy I am.
Have fun reading my scribbles.
The cats are here

Today we made a trip to Enschede and back to get the kitties. They really disliked the noisy and hot 1,5 hour drive but did not waste much time in exploring the room they'll be staying in for a while. They actually already 'found' the door that will lead them out of the room, so we have to be careful on entering and leaving.

Melisse was the one to start mewing on the ride, but Lina soon took over and kept up a lot longer. They were more quiet when we drove slower, but most of it was highway so no luck for them. The heat made it all uncomfortable (we don't have airco) too and why did we keep postponing the arrival at the vet?

They seem settled now. They have eaten in their new environment, they have not been climbing the walls or trying to claw their way out but they have been hiding from the heat under Matthijs' desk. Only Lina has discovered the window sill yet, but it is quite small. We want to add a wider board to it so the cats can make it their place.

Now there's nothing more for us in Enschede. We have not moved all our stuff yet, but there are no little furballs there anymore and belly dance and jazz have finished with both a show at the end. Bot shows went well but now I know for sure that I will miss it. Especially jazz gave me a real kick. I will continue belly dancing in Amersfoort, but this 'school' keeps everything 'indoors' so I don't think there will be a show for public.

And now I am hungry. Why is that lasagna taking so long?

More than a month already

It's been a month and 7 days now since we got the key to our house. Still not ready to really live there, though we're making progress.

The ground floor has been stripped of it's floor, even the kitchen (tiles). Dusty business and the floor now looks like a moonscape, even though we have filled in the biggest holes. The first floor is nearly done. The bedroom is finished, the work room is a mess but both our desks are present and we have a freshly painted closet. We want to connect our desks with a third table top and unpack our boxes. The stuff-room ('rommelkamer') has two beds (beneath one another), a large dresser and the built in closet which still needs filling. The landing is halfway through receiving laminate, but we're planning on an intricate edge on top of the first stairs so we'll need to get the supplies for that before we can finish it all. We hope the kitties will be able to come over next weekend...

The attic is still fairly empty, though we received our washing machine today. Yay! First laundry has been done. Everything in the house is covered in a fine layer of dust. We've vacuumed three times already but dust keeps appearing out of nowhere.

Tomorrow our floor will be measured so they can order all stuff for the 5th of July. I hope the floor is considered 'even' enough... I spent so much time crawling around evening out stuff already, I've had it. After that has been done I will depart to Enschede again for 6 days of dancing in a row while Matthijs will return here after his E exam.

Tomorrow evening I have belly dancing. On Wednesday and Thursday jazz. On Friday evening we'll perform two belly dances on a Ladies Night. Saturday is the final rehearsal for jazz and on Sunday we have the show. I have visited an 'open' lesson of belly dancing here in Amersfoort and subscribed for the new season. I expect I'll be able to join the 'advanced' group because I already learned the basics in the last two years. We're already on the list for Amersical too, so I've got my free time covered for September.

Now it is time for dinner and after that I'll have to find another chore or just relax a bit. Maybe some more laundry.
