Plant VS Predator
Predator wins. In the last 1,5 - 2 weeks 3 pots and one plant have been killed by our house predators, the cats. I don't think the pots or plants were the prey, rather the little moths, mosquitoes and flies that are attracted to the light. However, pots and plants should not be in the window sill when such appealing prey is fluttering around. The worst thing is that they do this only at night or early (05:00) morning. And it wakes me up. Nightly clean ups are not good for the night's rest. So here I am, grumpy and all, and I've decided that the living room will be closed to kitties at night. At least until we found a solution (i.e. a less wonky window sill or perhaps curtains). Aside from pushing over the plant pots the cats also decided that our pepper plants are a good substitute for grass, leaving bits and pieces and results of an irritated stomach throughout the house. We're going to buy some grass for them this weekend.... Written by Brenda :: 24 Aug 2011 - 09:41 :: 0

Update
Birthday party was good, though on my actual birthday I swore that next year I'll be spending the day in the Efteling instead of cleaning the house en doing grocery shopping. I had invited the neighbours of my parental home and they did visit. Unfortunately I was too busy getting everybody refreshments and giving tours of the house to actually talk with them. However, my mother hadn't seen them in a while either and it sounded as if they were having a lot of fun catching up. A week later we had a nice weekend with Cora en Rene, playing Arkham Horror and visiting Castlefest. They gifted us with a very beautiful painting of a painter who does some of his work on scene. I had a talk with Martin Jansen (www.twoia.nl). That's kind of routine on Castlefest. He used to make may eye prosthetic before he went back to being an artist again. At the moment I'm very busy with work. There seems to be a deadline the 15th that we're going to miss by miles. Next to work we're working on a new concept for a group on VA with lots of forum discussions. I have already sketched a new costume but I have to find the courage to go through my pile of fabrics (especially since I have fabrics in mind that I know I won't find in there). This weekend I'm finally going to explore the heart of Amersfoort. I need some new shoes. On Sunday there are historical activities in the city. Unfortunately Matthijs is spending the whole weekend working on a new server with two other guys. The first people to actually use our guest room. Anyway, time for some non-computer relaxation.
