Sitting cat Welcome to my home-cooked journal.
Here you will find my rants about every day life and things that keep me busy.
In the past I have frequently written, but there's no saying if I'll continue on that path. It all depends on how busy I am.
Have fun reading my scribbles.
On a diet

Perhaps not very smart with the shorter days and all the holidays (Sinterklaas, Christmas) coming up, but I'm on a diet. It's no official "you only get to eat one package of our very expensive powder a day" diet but it's more like checking "what goes in". The 'eetmeter' at the site of het voedingscentrum is helping me check (approximately) how many calories and nutrients I eat every day. I try to stay around 1500 - 1700 calories (kilocalorieen) a day while this tool tells me that a non lactating, non pregnant woman of 29 years old an 1.73 meter tall needs about 2100 calories a day.

Next to Amersical, which might or might not be physically challenging, belly dancing and streetdance, the latter being quite a workout, I have started some short exercises of weight lifting every morning. I think more exercise might be a good idea and would speed the weightloss but I do not want to 'sacrifice' another evening a week and for a workout at home I still need to find the right thing to do.

I'm into week 6 of this diet now and last Friday I had lost 5 kilograms already, dropping from 84 to 79 with my BMI dropping from 28.1 to 26.4. However, Moots 2 happened this weekend and on Saturday and Sunday I was off the diet for two days since I had no scales to measure stuff and it is easier to snack at larps or eat unhealthy food. So Monday I weighed myself again and it looked like I had gained 1 kilogram over the weekend. :-(

Next up is the challenge of Matthijs' birthday this weekend. It can be quite a strain on the will, such a diet with all kinds of snacks in front of you. However, I have already received compliments. Apparently some changes are visible, so let's keep it up.

My goal is to get to a BMI of 25, which is on the good side of the edge between good and not-so-good. For this I'll need to drop to 74 kilograms. So I still have some way to go. The feel-good goal is to feel good enough about my body to dance with a bare belly at the next belly dance party the 17th of January. Go me!
