Sitting cat Welcome to my home-cooked journal.
Here you will find my rants about every day life and things that keep me busy.
In the past I have frequently written, but there's no saying if I'll continue on that path. It all depends on how busy I am.
Have fun reading my scribbles.
I've got an ipad...

I've got an ipad. Technically it's not mine but property of Brevidius, my work. I only have it to debug a very nasty problem with a videoplayer I've been implementing. I've tried the thing out for about 20 minutes and already hate it. Either my fingers are too clumsy or big or this really is a device that should only be used for simple games, watching videos and reading texts... Ugh.

I have to find out, somehow, why this @#$#@$ player is not displaying the video but only playing the sound. There's no convenient F12 button to open up a webdeveloper toolkit or anything, the only thing I've found so far is that you have to hook up via usb to a normal desktop computer to be able to debug. Joy. I can see a very frustrating future....

I hate mobile devices/handhelds like these. First of all they fuck up social live as it is, people having more interest for their device than the actual people in the room. Second of all they're a danger in traffic. I've had to dodge many a cyclist, pedestrian and even a car once because the people concerned were busy with their tiny little touchscreens. Third it's a royal pain in the arse for developing websites for because most screens are just too small to supply decent sized controls. You have to practically restyle your whole website for a smaller screen. Why the @#$#@$ do people want to browse websites on these inapt devices?

This was only a 20 minute try out... not looking forward to more.

We have a tablet and I think you are right about the simple use thing. It works fine for passive things, like reading websites, the news, typing short replies and so on. Quite often websites do not even work properly, for example drop down menus where you need to hoover over. We would never have spent money on it, but we got it free with our newspaper subscription. When its free it is nice, then you only care about the good things. When you pay for it, you want your money's worth and that would be though for me because I don't like it that much.
