Maladignia's blog
Sitting cat Welcome to my home-cooked journal.
Here you will find my rants about every day life and things that keep me busy.
In the past I have frequently written, but there's no saying if I'll continue on that path. It all depends on how busy I am.
Have fun reading my scribbles.
Gaming day

Yesterday, Matthijs and I spent almost the whole day playing a WarCraft 3 RPG. Only, we didn't read the instructions carefully so we discovered way to late that your hero can evolve at certain levels. Which would make taking out the higher level creeps and lords a lot easier. After battling with some bugs (it is an alpha version) we managed to evolve our heroes and continue the game.

Update on birthday thingies:

  • One belated e-card from René. :)
  • A fantasy book from Matthijs' parents.

Cycle tours with Brenda

After spending an entire Wednesday on the computer, fixing things for Ellis' graduation project Spot, I decided it was time to try my holiday-bike again. My mom had told me that dad had fixed the gears (it's got 21 of them and 4 were broken) before they left for their vacation.
Cycling with me is always an adventure since I don't plan any route or anything. I just take a bidon and a 2 liter colabottle, both with water, an apple and a few slices of bread with me. (And money, mobile phone, housekeys, pocketknife) And then go! I moslty follow ANWB toadstools or bike-signs.

Today I wanted to cycle to Apeldoorn (about 35 km) because my father had told me that 'the real Apeldoorn' is way further than the 'Apeldoorn with restaurant Buds' where I usually go. So I cycled to Apeldoorn, in approx. 1 hour and 15 minutes, including the uphill part.
In Apeldoorn I noticed a sign to Vaassen. In preschool we went on a trip to Vaassen, so I decided to go that way. It's not even worth the name 'village' or 'town'. After Vaassen came Emst, an even smaller hole. Since it was getting late already I decided to go home and after following signs with Nunspeet, Elspeet and Ermelo, I got safely home.

So, I made a tour of about 4 hours. Unfortunately I don't have a mileage indicator on my bike, so I don't know how far I have traveled, but it must be at least 80km.
Now I am tired, but it feels good. :D

Update time

Time for another update. Summer is progressing swiftly.
My project is as good as finished. Perhaps I should do a bit more promotion. So people with WordPress blogs: you can find my plugin on my pluginblog. Go test and give me feedback! Other people: please tell everybody you know about my plugin. ;)
At the moment I'm working on Ellis' en Sylvia's project Spot. I'm doing the database backend (again) for a Flash frontend (again..). Looks a lot like my groupproject from earlier this year, except that it is far less complicated and time consuming. At least, up until now it is.

I've spent last week being generally so bored that I have polished my toenails and attempted to watch the whole StarWars saga. I didn't get further than number 3. 4-6 are so old! I can't believe that I fancied Luke Skywalker when I was younger. And it is so powerranger like. Yuch.
Also watched 'Memoirs of a Geisha' (way too happy ending to my taste), 'Finding Neverland' (very good movie), 'The Nightmare before Chrismas' (hadn't seen that one yet, very nice) and a very bad bios-rip of X-men3 (don't think it's worth going to the cinema for it).
I'm hoping that Matthijs and I can go to 'Pirates of the Caribbean 2' this Thursday.

My brother is finally starting to read fantasy! Or books with more than 20 pages, for that matter. Wow!
I'm through all my books and our library is flakey. Perhaps I should borrow another series from Rob. But well... I read too fast, especially in boring times like these. Matthijs has taken on the summerjob at his father's sailingschool, assuming that with my exams coming in August (25th from 10.00 - 10.50) I would be far too busy to pay any attention to him. I can't blame him ofcourse, and he can use the money and likes what he does, I'm sure, but I do miss him now that I have so much time on my hands.

I'm still doing small things for Exodus and we could use more NPC's. So please, join us!
If people want to come visit me, the week of 22nd till 29th is the time with my parents being on vacation. ;)

Sunshine and stuff

What a wonderful weather! And what a lack of concentration, motivation and perserverance.
It would be hard and perhaps even boring to describe the last weeks from day to day. So here's a quick update.

My project is going well. Perhaps a bit too well and smooth. I'm getting the feeling that I'm nearly done while I should/can be working until the 21st of August. It worries me a bit.
Of course there's enough to be done, I'm not quite finished yet, but it all seems to be nearly-done and so I'm relaxed. Perhaps a bit too relaxed for someone who's going to graduate (or at least is aiming to).
I sent my 'final' thesis to my supervisor today. The official deadline is the 7th of August, but he wanted to read it before he was going on a holiday until the 14th of August.. and he thought that I could do it. Well, I did. I hope it is worth something. It is over 30 pages long (including frontpage, index, bibliography etc.)

Last weekend Matthijs and I were together for five years. Quite some time. We didn't celebrate it in any way. Instead I joined the LANparty that was going on in Harderwijk with Laurens' friends. I joined on Fridaynight and Saturdaynight, but only with Warcraft3 because FPS make me dizzy. Ofcourse Matthijs was there as well, but we were playing with a group, not together.
Next to gaming I also read a lot and did some work on a prop for Exodus.

I'm in doubt about celebrating my birthday this year. Because it's the 29th of July and a lot of people are on vacation, it would probably be a very small party. And I don't know if I want to put my energy into it. Probably not.

Exodus needs a lot of attention right now, since the event is the last weekend of August. So I'm working on the website, some props and blah. It's more fun than working on my project. ;)
